About our director

Maggie is a 1996 charter member of Image City Sound Chorus, and in the first five years guided the chorus to five Regional small chorus, Division A championships which included a 5th place overall medal.

She previously led her larger Sweet Adeline chorus to consistent top five regional placements, 7 of which were championships leading to International stage performances. She was the first female director of the local men’s barbershop chorus and during her tenure with them , she directed them to six international stage performances where she was one of the first female directors ever to direct on the men’s International stage. She has also toured and directed two of her choruses in Ireland as well as returning to coach for the Irish Assoc. of Barbershop singers.

Maggie served many years on the Regional and International music faculties, teaching and coaching extensively throughout the country for not only Sweet Adelines, but for the Men’s Society and Harmony Incorporated, another female barbershop harmony organization.

She is a past regional quartet champion and International semi-finalist.
.…. was the first recipient of the Regional Larry Dale coaching award
….. has received a Regional ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’
….. and is a past , chorus “Sweet Adeline of the Year”

Locally, Maggie was co-founder and co-chair of the annual, mid-summer “Barbershop at the Beach” held for 20 years at Charlotte Beech gazebo…..and for the last 10 years she has facilitated and presented a booth and workshop at the annual ‘New York State School Music Assoc.” convention here in Rochester. She promotes the Barbershop harmony organization’s youth music programs and supports music educators in their efforts to bring 4-part a cappella harmony into their classrooms.

As a retired special educator with the Rochester City School District, she continues to find teaching a passion. As a director, she is committed to quality performance. She challenges her singer/performers to work toward personal growth and she says the individual successes are rewarding and exciting.

Maggie shared 36 wonderful Barbershopping years with husband, Bill, also a past District champion and International level competitor,…. and is proud of her daughter’s carrying on the musical and artistic tradition in her ministries.
